Organic skin care: 4 recipes to make your own day cream

This year, it’s decided, you take the time to make your own cosmetics. Determined to no longer spread chemicals on your skin with an obscure composition, you want to carefully choose the components of your future day cream. And it’s perfect because we’ve concocted four 100% natural recipes for you! Your skin and wallet should thank you quickly…

A basic concept to know

To compose a moisturizing day cream, it is imperative to combine an aqueous phase and an oily phase.

The first can be simply composed of a few tablespoons of water, or in more elaborate recipes, floral waters.

The second usually consists of vegetable oils, essential oils, vegetable butter or beeswax.

These two complementary phases, one hydrates while the other nourishes are then emulsified to give a homogeneous set.

It is up to you then to modulate the ingredients as you like. In the meantime, here are 4 simple recipes for your first try!

Refreshing, easy and fast Oleogel

Ingredients
– 10ml of vegetable oil of your choice (combination oily skin, dry skin, mature skin, acne skin)
– 20ml aloe vera gel
– 6 drops grapefruit seed extract (natural preservative)

For this recipe, nothing could be simpler: you just have to mix all the ingredients together!

Once done, all you have to do is pour it all in a small, clean, dry pot.

Protective day cream for mixed skin

Ingredients
– 1g beeswax
– 20ml jojoba vegetable oil
– 10ml of rose water
– 6 drops of custard (natural preservative)

Melt the oil and wax in a double boiler, stirring well.

Once this mixture has melted, pour in the water and gently stir out of the heat until an emulsion is obtained.

Finally, add the custard, then mix again and pour it into a small, clean, dry pot.

Moisturizing day cream for all skin types

Ingredients
– 1g beeswax
– 15ml of vegetable oil of your choice (mixed oily skin, dry skin, mature skin, acne skin)
– 10ml of lavender hydrolat
– 5ml of vegetable glycerin
– 6 drops grapefruit seed extract

For starters, melt the wax and vegetable oil in a double boiler.

Once everything looks homogeneous, remove from the heat and add the hydrolat, as well as the glycerin. Mix well until you get an emulsion.

Then add the preservative and transfer to a small, clean, dry jar.

Light and fluid day cream

Ingredients
– 1.6g Olivem 1000 (emulsifier)
– 10ml of vegetable oil of your choice (combination oily skin, dry skin, mature skin, acne skin)
– 20ml hydrolat of your choice
– 6 drops of custard

Melt the Olive 1000 and the vegetable oil in a double boiler until the temperature reaches about 70°C. Tip if you don’t have a thermometer, wait until the water in the double boiler starts to make fine bubbles.

In a second container, heat the selected hydrolat to 70°C as well.

Once both phases are at the same temperature, remove them from the fire then pour the oily phase into the hydrolat.

Then whip very vigorously, until the emulsion takes, and add the custard.

Finally, pour it all into a small, clean, dry pot.

Preservation and use precautions
These creams are all to keep cool!

Store them preferably in the refrigerator body and not in the door, to avoid temperature variations.

They are also to be used within one month of their completion.

Be careful to respect all the rules of use and hygiene when making your home cosmetics.
